"Rhizome Prism", Vivid Artist Walk, Circular Quay, Sydney, 2015

Rhizome Prism, is a 3m x 3m x 3m interactive sculpture made originally as a collaborative piece for the Vivid Lights Art Walk in 2015. It consists of a steel frame fabricated by Sydney sculptor and robotocist Dillon MacEwan, a high tension welded rear screen projection membrane fabricated by Bernie Flanagan of Castle Canvas in Newcastle, hyperlapse video footage shot by myself, Teigan Kollosche and Nick Wishart. Inside the work are 5 projectors connected to two mac mini's, each in turn connected to a series of Intel Galileo boards. The boards are connected to wires attached to the mambrane which triggers sounds and visual effects as spectators touch the work. With help from sound artist and composer Jon Drummond we made a Max/MSP patch capable of converting movement data from an arduino x/y sensor, and developed MIDI signals which triggered sounds in Logic and vidvox's VDMX. The visuals were mapped through Mad Mapper and physically with reflective material. The above video was shot by myself, Teigan Kollosche and photographer Edwina Richards during the actual event. Below is a schematic of the next iteration of the work to be exhibited in 2016. Rhizome Prism #2 is an installation work presented at the Simon Fraser University in Vancouver Canada as part of the 2015 International Symposium of Electronic Arts.
