Miguel Felipe Valenzuela has worked in many roles on films. He has directed, written and produced a number of independent music videos and short films and has worked as a Director of Photography, editor and effects producer on commercial projects. He has a stubborn approach to film making that has helped develop a consistent and well regarded teaching career in film and video production. He currently teaches into art and film streams at SCA/SACE at the University of Sydney, and has previously taught at The University of Technology Sydney, The University of New South Wales and the School of Audio Engineering.
Recently, Valenzuela has collaborated with Blue Mountains singer/songwriter, Ben Connor on an animated music video clip. Using Photoshop, After Effects and developing 3D assets using Blender. Valenzuela is exploring new diretions in his work through the development of narrative driven, yet experimental animated works.
After years on the margins of the industry, his work does not attempt to conform to the expectations of any school of cinema or mainstream production (although he has worked on many commercial productions as a freelancer). His video art work emphasises an experimental approach to film making and storytelling, as is evidenced in many of the works he has directed.
